International studies with an Asian focus allows students todraw connections between the increasing globalisation of life and how these work out in an Asian context, including work, business, cultural transactions and politics. Core topics include: globalisation, the nature of development in different regions, identity politics, gender, comparative politics, and mobility. You will cover modules teaching modern Asian history, approaches to understanding international relations, and undertake politics and culture as introductory modules. Your study will expose you to understand better on topics relating to international relations within Asia Pacific, international media and Southeast Asia. You will also concentrate on topics covering nationalism, global organisations and you are given a choice to take a study tour.
Cultural studies is a field of theoretically, politically, and empirically engaged cultural analysis that concentrates upon the political dynamics of contemporary culture, its historical foundations, defining traits, conflicts, and contingencies. This course will develop students awareness of the practices of cultural policy and their application to the culture industry.
